Men's formal wear
What should the groom wear? His attire depends on the hour and degree of formality of the ceremony. Proper attire for the groom at a formal evening wedding - trimmed trousers, stiff white shirt with a wing collar, white waist coast and white tie. Today formal wear allows for more variety and personal style.

The groom should start by seeking the guidance of a professional at a formal wear shop. He must ask about single breasted versus double breasted jacket, shawl peaked and notch collar bow ties, ascots, and whether to wear a cummerbund. He should consider cufflinks, studs, pockets, squares or suspenders.

Selections :
Cummerbunds - Worn to cover the trouser waist band in matching or contrasting fabric.
Suspenders - Also called braces they may be worn along with cummerbunds .
Bow ties - Made of formal fabric and worn with a tuxedo or dinner jacket.
Four in hand ties - A knotted tie similar to a business tie but in a more formal fabric.
Ascots - Double knot ties with ends folded over worn with stick pins winged collar.
Studs and cuff link - Worn in place of buttons on formal shirts . T hey come in gold or silver tone precious metal or a mix of various metal s .
Boutonnieres - Flower s (which co-ordinates with the brid e's bouquets) worn on the left lapel.
Pocket square - A small visible pocket hand kerchief of linen silk or other dressy fabric.

The Best Man and the usher
The Best Man and ushers wear the same attire as the groom. There can be a variation of tie or ascot for the groom and the B est M an. Providing gloves and ties to the usher can make the B est M an and usher look different from the groom. Having some ushers in dress uniform and some in formal wear would spoil the look of the wedding party. Ensure good attire co-ordination between the groom and the ushers. Uniformity is the look desired but the groom and his B est M an wear ties of a slightly different pattern from the remaining groomsmen .

The ring bearer
A young ring bearer should wear either a white linen suit with short pants and aneton (?) jacket with shoes and white socks. Either a navy suit with dark knee socks and black shoes will match.

Bridal attire
Perhaps nothing says WEDDING quite so definitely as a white bridal gown. For many it is a signature element. The pure white gown costume as simply a fashion beg u n by Q ueen Victoria at her wedding in 1840. White remains the most popular choice of brides today. Now a days the dictation of custom have changed from white to off white ivory, pastel shades are acceptable choice for brides as well. The gown worn by the bride takes away all the attention on a wedding day. Whether your taste is simple or baroque, it is difficult to resist the lure of a wedding dress as an expression of your true self. The origin of the veil appeared from the roman times, but it only bec a me a requisit e o f the bridal ensemble sometime s in the nineteenth century . T he colour white is considered to be the form of purity, so the gown to be worn is in white colour. Your bridal costume should make you look lovely and feel absolutely radiant. A bride and her gown is the cynosure of all eyes.

Choosing your gown
The wedding gown styles you choose will depend on the formality and style of the wedding itself. For example, the more formal the wedding, the more formal the gown gets. Preparation of the wedding gown takes place almost s ix month s to o ne year, so keep in mind the date of the wedding for early trial and fittings. During selection of the gowns, the budget must be kept in mind, whether she would like to spend more or average on the gown. The bride has innumerable choices. She can buy a dress or borrow or even wear her mothe r's gown or even rent for her wedding. You could also get your gown done by an experienced and reliable seamstress who would give you various patterns to make a proper decision. While making your gown, make sure you are open and frank to your seamstress for the best look. Bring your friend or mother while selecting your gown, since it's a good idea to have someone to accompany you. Know your style, look at pictures in bridal magazines and make sure of which gown looks good for your figure type.
Take along accessories for trials and fittings. Bring a strapless bra, petticoat, veil, necklace, gloves and anything else you plan to wear on your wedding day. Make sure that the headpiece and wedding shoes are complimentary to your gown. The bride must be confident about the kind of gown she would prefer to wear on the wedding day. Make sure your seamstress arranges for more than four fittings for the perfect look you would want on your wedding. While ordering your dress make 50% down payment and the rest on the delivery day. Make sure the delivery of your gown is done two weeks before your wedding.

Trains
Court: extends one yard from the back of the waist.
Chapel: extends one and half yards from the back of the waist.
Cathedral: extends two and half yards from the back of the waist.
Illusion: a transparent fabric panel or yoke.
Extended/royal cathedral: extends three yards from the back of the waist.
Sweep: a shot train that barely sweeps the floor.
Watteall: attached at the shoulders of the gown.

Dress length
Street: hemline falls to just cover the knee.
Intermission high/low: hemline falls to mid-calf in front floor length in back.
Tea: hemline falls to the lower part of the calf.
Ballerina: hemline falls to just above the ankles.
Floor: hemline falls half to one and half inches from the floor.

How to flatter your figure
Finding the perfect gown style is easy when you know your figure - whether your build is pear shaped or petite, top heavy or tall. Wearing the right cut for your body type can highlight your best features and downplay those you're concerned about.

Build type:
The triangle (small and top, heavier on the bottoms)
The key here is to balance your proportion. Broaden and emphasize your top half with full sleeve treatment, padded shoulder or puffed sleeves that extend your shoulder line and a textured bodice accented with lace overlays, appliqués and beadwork. Elongated bodices and skirt with side panels or excess fullness and body hugging sheaths will make you look disproportioned.

The inverted triangle (fuller on top and narrow hips)
Padding and natural shoulder lines , simple bodices with accents kept to a minimum will draw less attention to your top. For better overall proportion, wear a full length gown or a style with skirt details such as peplums, bustles, sashes and bows. Avoid gowns with full sleeves/slim silhouettes or gowns with soft clinging fabrics that will only make you appear too thin and narrow.

The hourglass (small waist, full hip and bust)
To maximize your curves and maintain balance, look for a gown with simple classic lines like sheaths and mermaid styles. Too much detailing can make you look heavier than you really are. Shoulders with off the shoulders sleeves, V necklines and strapless dresses (?) A void gowns with very full or ruffled skirts, puffed sleeves , highly detail ed bodices and high neckline that cover the shoulder areas and minimize the bust.

Fabrics
The best kind of fabrics used for wedding gown are as follows :

Brocade: heavy fabric with interwoven design.
Chiffon: delicately sheer with a simple weaving with a soft finish.
Eyelet: open weave embroidery used for decoration.
Moiré: silk taffeta that when illuminated glistens like water.
Organza: sheer crisps textured.
Silk faced satin: brimming with body with lustrous sheen.
Slipper satin: light soft and more closely woven fabric.
Taffeta: glossy fabric.
Tulle: tiny meshed net of silk and cotton.

Shoes
Some shoes shopping tips :
Start looking for shoes as soon as you've selected a gown. This leaves time for comparison and custom work. Co-ordinate shoes with the style of your gown e.g.: a sweeping train goes well with pumps. Don't neglect comfort . Y ou will be standing several hours so don't let aching feel or blisters ruin your wedding. Consider heel height, a medium heel offers elegance and support. Ballet style slippers are lovely if you don't want to add height. When marrying outdoors, high or spiked heels might sink into grass. Shop for shoes in the afternoon when your feet are likely to be larger (they normally swell during the day). Wear shoes around home to break them in a bit before the wedding. Scuff the bottoms to prevent slipping. Take shoes to each dress fitting to determine proper hem length.

Lingerie s and accessories

Slips and petticoat
Slips and petticoats that go under your wedding dress unusually come along with the wedding gown. Make sure the petticoat fits right because it can improve the shape and movement of your wedding dress.

Bras
The bra can define and emphasize your bust or minimize it.
Be sure no telltale straps will show off your wedding dress.
Try on several bra styles with your gown and be sure your choice is comfortable.

Panties
Buy panties in same fabric and colour as the bra.
Materials like lace stretch, satin are likely to be worn.
Make sure it is comfortable; apply panty lining to avoid them from staining.
